And it's about time too.
I lamented the lack of gourmet and seafood on offer in Hobart when I was there in July.
Then there was the raw feeling of regret still hanging around – my misguided and unfulfilled visions of cooked garlic pippies (yes, I've had pippies on a boat before) and fresh prawns aboard the Vagabond. That so didn't come true.
I was beginning to think seafood heaven may never happen – until I got to Port Douglas.
2 Fish was everything I had wanted in holiday dining, for so long.
Though I apologise for the crap iphone pics, I didn't have a camera with me.
We gobbled down, Mud Crab, Soft Shell Mud Crab, Barramundi Spring Rolls, Oysters with three toppings, Three Pepper Calamari, Scallops and Clams, Cibatta with a good Dukkah, and a nice Yarra valley Pinot Gris.
All so perfectly delicious!
And about as messy as Tom Lu's…
I was in seafood heaven! A nirvana of the tastebuds!
Lunch, the next day at Silky Oaks was also seafood…
Really tasty, but not the indulgence of 2 Fish.
Though I'm pretty sure India loved her pasta…
Not to be outdone, however, and happy Pool Resort had a dishwasher, we stopped at THE seafood shop. I can't remember it's name, but it's in he street behind Coles, and it's next to the petrol station.
I bought so much yummy seafood, as well as some smoked crocodile. Next door was a fruit shop/deli, that had all the ingredients we needed to complete the dinner time gourmet delight.
Squid
Reef fish
Scallops
Prawns
Bugs
and salad – love this action shot of Belle's chopping…
And finally,
the beast in my head could rest.
I was sated.
